when it departed the left side of the runway during landing at Double Eagle II Airport (AEG),
Albuquerque, New Mexico 22May03. The pilot was not injured. The flight originated from Santa Fe,
New Mexico. The pilot was on approach for the runway when there was another aircraft in the
						pattern, doing touch-and-go landings. The pilot stated that the separation was adequate;
however, he "felt the pressure" of the aircraft following him. The landing was uneventful; however,
in his "haste to clear the runway, he relaxed the back pressure which allowed the tail to come back up”.
The airplane drifted to the left, departed the runway and the left main wheel struck an asphalt walkway.
Both the left and the right main gear collapsed, the right wing tip rib was bent, and the right main
fuel tank was punctured. The aircraft received minor damage when the right wing tip struck the
ground during landing at Santa Fe Municipal Airport, New Mexico 15Oct10. The pilot and the
passenger were uninjured. Ran off the runway after landing while on roll out at Santa Fe Municipal
Airport, New Mexico 20May11 while on a local sightseeing flight. The aircraft sustained minor damage.
The pilot and passenger were not injured. Ground looped left after landing at Santa Fe Municipal Airport,
New Mexico 18May14 while on a recreational flight. The pilot and passenger were not injured.
The pilot had planned an overhead traffic pattern, which provided for better visibility when he sat
in the rear seat. While on downwind the pilot was directed to extend downwind and fly a straight-in
approach. The pilot accepted the instructions, knowing his visibility for landing would be restricted
and he would likely have to drop the nose of the airplane on approach to see forward during landing.
The pilot landed a bit fast after dropping the nose, and a light crosswind possibly pushed the airplane right.
The pilot over corrected to the left and added power to go around. The airplane skidded left and exited
the runway, causing the right main gear to collapse and the right wing and prop to strike the ground

Kissimmee (Gateway) airport (KISM), FL 20Oct01. The propeller and cowling of SNJ-6,
N453WA collided with the tail of Cessna C-172R, N64AF when taxying shortly after landing.
The SNJ-6 had been cleared to land after the C-172 and was subsequently instructed by ATC
to exit the runway onto the taxiway and follow the C-172. When taxying, the C-172 was
instructed by ATC to yield to another aircraft crossing on an intersecting taxiway. The SNJ-6
ran into the tail of the stopped C-172 shortly afterward. The SNJ-6 sustained minor damage,
while the tail of the C-172 sustained structural damage. There were no injuries.
The SNJ-6 pilot had lost sight of the C-172 due to the forward visibility limitation of the
SNJ-6 landing gear configuration. Destroyed near Kissimmee (Gateway) airport (KISM), FL 9May05.
The aircraft departed Kissimmee for an aerobatic instructional flight south of the Kissimmee
airport. The aerobatic flight was conducted between 5,000ft and 6,000ft. The last ATC plot
showed that the aircraft was at 3,800ft, heading 067 degrees and the ground speed was 99 knots.
The right wing separated from the aircraft and the aircraft impacted the ground almost vertically.

Registered 1976 as N58740; current [Feb20]. Substantially damaged at Titusville, FL 10Mar85.
A group of T-6 type aircraft were taking off in sections of two aircraft each. Each section of two
were making a formation take-off with a 5 to 6 second interval between sections. N58740 was in
the left position of the 2nd section; N9801C was in the left position of the 3rd section.
During take-off, an aircraft in the 1st section had an engine problem and the pilot aborted
his take-off. He made a radio call to notify the other pilots and the pilots of the 2nd section
aborted their take-off. However, the pilot of N9801C, who was leading the 3rd section did not
hear the radio call. His aircraft had poor forward visibility while the tail wheel was on the
ground. Therefore, he was not aware that the aircraft ahead were aborting until he raised the
tail during the take-off roll. By then, it was too late to avoid a collision. Subsequently, the
left wing of N9801C struck the rudder and elevators of N58740 and both aircraft were substantially
damaged. Damaged when landed with landing gear retracted at Conroe, TX 18Dec94

ground looped landing at Whiteman Airpark Airport, Pacoima, CA 26May77. Fatal crash
and destroyed during a display at El Toro MCAS, Irvine, CA 27Apr85. The pilot initiated a normal
take-off and climb until the aircraft was over the departure end of the runway at about 150 ft agl
with the landing gear and flaps retracted. The aircraft then rolled rapidly into a steep left bank,
turned about 180 deg and climbed to approximately 250 ft agl. As the aircraft rolled to a wings
level attitude, the nose was slightly above the horizon. The aircraft remained in that position
momentarily, then quickly rolled into a steep left bank. After about another 30 deg of heading
change, the aircraft rolled over-the-top into a right spin. Reportedly, the spin was stopped after
about 3 turns, but before recovery, the aircraft struck the ground in a nose down, right wing
down attitude. After initial impact, the aircraft continued into a chapel building and burned.
The pilot possessed a waiver to fly with an amputated leg. The aircraft was modified so that he

Race #75 ‘Warlock’. The aircraft flew low over the water at Tulloch Lake bordering the California
county lines of Tuolumne and Calaveras 17Jun07. The airplane departed Columbia airport a
few minutes earlier after attending the father’s day fly-in at Columbia (O22), CA. Near
Knights ferry at the southwest end of the lake the airplane hit a set of power lines and
broke one causing minor damage to the leading edge of the left wing. The pilot didn't
know that he had hit any power lines until arriving at Minter Field, Shafter, CA later that day.
Sustained substantial damage after impacting terrain while maneuvering at a low altitude
near Bakersfield, California 17Mar10. The pilot and passenger were killed. The flight departed
Shafter-Minter Field (MIT), Shafter, California. A witness reported that he observed the airplane
circling his farm, followed by a low pass at an altitude estimated to be between 150 to 200 feet
above the ground (agl). The witness further reported that he observed the airplane depart
the area in a climb to the north. A second witness, who was located about one-half mile south
of the accident site, reported that he observed the airplane circling overhead, followed by a
constant, shallow rate of descent before it impacted terrain in a slightly nose down attitude.
The witness stated that the airplane then bounced once before impacting the terrain a second
time, followed by a cloud of dust and billowing smoke. The witness added that at no time during
the gradual descent until the time of impact did he observe the airplane’s pitch attitude change,
that its attitude was steady until the time of impact, and that he did not observe the airplane
make any type of an evasive maneuver to avoid the impact with terrain.

cancelled 24Jan18. Destroyed when it impacted the Gulf of México about one mile south of
Topsail Hill Reserve State Park, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 6Mar10. The pilot and passenger were
fatally injured. The airplane was part of a five-airplane formation. The accident airplane was
number 5 in a five-plane, in-trail, over water formation. The flight leader estimated that the
formation was about 500 feet above the water, and a trail pilot estimated that the airplanes were
about 2,000 yards apart. The formation was headed eastbound, along a beach. A video clip
revealed that some of the airplanes completed aileron rolls. When the number 5 airplane attempted
a left aileron roll, it reached a 180-degree (completely upside down) position with the nose dropping
to about 10 degrees below the horizon. As the airplane continued through about 225 degrees,
at an estimated 15-degrees nose low attitude, it began a turn to the right while still continuing the
left roll. As the airplane reached a southerly heading, away from the beach, it passed through
about 315 degrees of the left roll (right wing still 45-degrees down. ) The roll suddenly reversed, the
wings briefly went vertical (left wing up, right wing down), and the nose dropped, indicative of a stall.
As the airplane continued rolling to the right, it appeared to go slightly inverted. It then descended
he water about 90-degrees nose low, with the top of the airplane facing the beach. The right wingtip
e first part of the airplane to strike the water, and as it did, the angle of the wings in relation to
						horizon was about 45 degrees.

The pilot reported that he was returning to the airfield as part of an eleven-ship formation.
He landed the airplane on the left side of the runway and kept the tail up during the landing
rollout to allow for spacing with other aircraft in formation. When he began to lower the tail
to the runway, wind hit the left side of the airplane and lifted the left wing. Despite the pilot's
control inputs the airplane crossed to the right side of the runway and continued into the grass,
coming to a stop facing south. The left wingtip, aileron, and outboard aileron hinge struck the
ground during the excursion, substantially damaging the airplane

While landing on a turf runway, the pilot touched down in a 3-point attitude. He advised that his
approach was normal and on speed, and the airplane touched down normally and began to decelerate.
The turf was a bit rough and had some areas that were bumpier than others. The airplane hit a bump
and launched back in to the air to an estimated altitude of about 6 to 8 feet above ground level in a
nose high attitude. The airplane then touched down tail first, then the main landing gear touched down.
The tail then bounced back in the air and continued to climb up, forcing the plane to wheel barrel for
about 50 feet before the propeller struck the ground, the engine cowling contacted the ground, and the
airplane nosed over onto its back in the center of the runway. The aircraft had incurred substantial
damage to the propeller, engine cowling, cockpit canopy, vertical stabilizer, rudder, and left wing.
